Jin Y et al. - LVMI independently increased with both urinary sodium and aldosterone excretion. Increased MWT explained the association of LVMI with urinary sodium and increased LVID the association of LVMI with urinary aldosterone.

If the associations in our population study are reversible and can be extrapolated, our findings underscore the importance of a low dietary salt intake and the use aldosterone antagonists in the prevention of left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertensive patients.
