Strong expression of chemokine receptor CXCR4 by renal cell carcinoma correlates with advanced disease
Journal of Oncology, 06/12/09
Wehler TC et al. - In a study to evaluate the influence of CXCR4 expression on the progression of human renal cell carcinoma (RCC), it was shown that strong CXCR4 expression was significantly associated with advanced dedifferentiated RCC.
Methods- CXCR4 expression of RCC was assessed by immunohistochemistry in 113 pts.
- Intensity of CXCR4 expression was correlated with both tumor and pt characteristics.
- Human RCC revealed variable intensities of CXCR4 expression.
- Strong CXCR4 expression of RCC was significantly associated with advanced T-status, tumor dedifferentiation, and low hemoglobin.
