Yao GH et al. - Combined with renal pathological examination, monitoring the circulatory levels of soluble E-selectin, thrombomodulin (TM) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), can provide circulating biomarkers of vascular lesions (VLS) in lupus nephritis (LN) patients. Methods
Study is to explore the correlation between circulatory endothelial damage biomarkers and VLS
TM and VCAM-1 were measured by ELISA
Results
TM and VCAM-1 levels both were elevated in LN with VLS than in LN w/o VLS
However, the serum E-selectin was not changed in LN pts with and w/o VLS
A positive correlation was found between TM and serum creatinine in pts with vascular lesions
TM level of the pts with TMA was significantly higher than those w/o TMA
