Nelson M et al. - This is a case report of the nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, stavudine and lamivudine inducing Fanconi syndrome in a patient. The presence of simultaneous lactic acidosis suggests mitochondrial toxicity within the proximal renal tubular cells as the likely pathogenesis.
