Rose SH et al. – The effects of fatigue, night shift assignments, and sleep deprivation on human performance and the quality and safety of medical care are subjects of enormous interest within and beyond the medical community. Much of the focus has been on the duty hours of resident physicians, the effects of fatigue on their clinical performance, and the impact of duty assignments on resident learning and well–being.
