Type 2 diabetes: effective management of the vascular risk
Sang Thrombose Vaisseaux, 11/04/09
Larger E et al. – A major goal of treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes is to reduce vascular risk. Recent facts have changed our view : several large trials remained inconclusive, especially because the number of vascular events was lower than anticipated. It thus appears that the vascular risk has changed in diabetes, probably owing to the large prescription of statins and treatment of hypertension with strict targets. This also raises new questions about the strategy of screening for coronary disease in diabetics.
