Orabi AA et al. – Prominent–ear deformity is the most common developmental abnormality of the external ear. Dieffenbach presented the first description of an operation to correct prominent ears in 1845.1 Since then, more than 200 techniques have been described to correct this condition. Despite significant variations among the different techniques, many of these procedures have resulted in a high degree of patient satisfaction. Regardless of the particular otoplasty procedure or technique that is performed, surgeons usually recommend applying a head bandage postoperatively.
