Prostate Cancer: Role of SPECT and PET in Imaging Bone Metastases
Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, 10/09/09
Beheshti M et al. – Positron emission tomography is increasing in popularity for staging newly diagnosed prostate cancer and for assessing response to therapy. Many positron emission tomography tracers have been tested for use in the evaluation of prostate cancer patients based on increased glycolysis, cell membrane proliferation by radiolabeled phospholipids, fatty acid synthesis, amino acid transport and protein synthesis, androgen receptor expression, and osteoblastic activity.
