Golimumab: A human anti-TNF-alpha monoclonal antibody for the treatment of autoimmune joint diseases
Formulary , 09/17/09
Phung OJ et al. – Golimumab is a human anti–tumor necrosis factor (TNF)–alpha monoclonal antibody that was recently approved for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). In clinical trials, subcutaneous (SC) golimumab injected every 4 weeks significantly improved clinically relevant end points in all 3 disease states. Golimumab may increase the risk for upper respiratory tract infection, lymphoma, and injection–site reaction, but the incidence of these adverse events was low in clinical trials.
