McDonald C et al. – The five most commonly misdiagnosed diseases were (in order) infection, neoplasm, myocardial infarction, pulmonary emboli, and cardiovascular disease. The results underscore the need to institute policies, procedures, and systems that reduce the most common process errors that lead to the misdiagnosis of these common conditions.
