Punukollu B - During the shadowing week, the author had valuable meetings with members of the trust board, including the deputy director of finance and director of human resources, and the author met the clinical audit manager, deputy head of pharmacy, and the managers of patient advice and liaison service and complaints. Through these meetings, the author gained useful insights into the world of senior level management in the NHS. The experience the author gained helps him in his current position as a specialist registrar and will prove invaluable in preparation for being a consultant. The author would strongly recommend similar schemes to clinicians interested in gaining management experience.
