Mitral Anterolateral Papillary Muscle Rupture in an Asymptomatic Patient with Mitral Stenosis after Percutaneous Mitral Balloon Valvuloplasty

Clinical Article
Demirkol S et al. – Percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty is the procedure of choice for the treatment of patients with mitral stenosis and suitable valve anatomy. Papillary muscle rupture is the most worrisome complication of this procedure. Three–dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (3D TTE) is additive to conventional two–dimensional imaging in these patients in terms of three–dimensional perspective and anatomically correct examination.
