Alpha-mangostin suppresses MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression in head and neck squamous carcinoma cells
Odontology, 08/10/2012
Kaomongkolgit R – The results showed that alpha–mangostin increased in growth inhibition of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cell lines in a concentration–dependent manner. Treatment with alpha–mangostin decreased matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)–2 and MMP–9 expression in a concentration–dependent manner in all cell lines. These findings suggested that alpha–mangostin might be a potential therapeutic agent for HNSCC.
