Based on a literature review we identify some major patterns of fruit allergy with different prevalence across Europe, mainly in a northeast-southwest direction. The purpose of the review is to form the basis of a website called 'Fruit and Allergy', for self-testing of allergy patterns among fruit allergy sufferers. We hope this might help the allergy sufferers to identify fruit products which they can tolerate and hence increase their fruit consumption. This site may also be of interest for practitioners and allergists and we hope to develop it in such a way that it may be widely accepted. We plan to launch the site in January 2010 at www.isafruit.org, the home page of the European integrated research project, ISAFRUIT. This work was performed as part of the ISAFRUIT project, which is funded by the European Commission under the Thematic Priority 5–Food Quality and Safety of the 6th Framework Programme of RTD (Contract no. FP6-FOOD–CT-2006-016279).
