Guess MK et al. – OAB is a common, costly, and debilitating disease. The differential diagnoses involve numerous medical conditions, and a careful history and physical examination are essential to ensure maximal efficacy in treating patients with OAB. Numerous conservative and invasive treatment options are available and can be tailored to individual needs of the patient. With therapy optimized, successful treatment is certainly attainable and quality of life can be dramatically improved for many women. This article will review current understanding of OAB, giving special consideration to factors that are particularly relevant to aging women.
