Methods- Randomized phase II trial
- Second-line chemotherapy in patients with metastatic breast cancer who have failed a pacclitaxel-containing regimen
- Randomization to receive docetaxel (40 mg/m2; group 1, n=34) or docetaxel (35 mg/m2) with gemcitabine (600 mg/m2; group 2, n=41)
- 3 weekly infusions with a 1-week rest period
- ORR was 18% and 27.5% in groups 1 and 2, respectively
- No difference in median OS and TTP
- Grades 3 and 4 neutropenia were higher in group 2 (23% vs. 3%)
