Chiropractic treatment for fibromyalgia: A systematic review

Ernst E – Review concludes that there is insufficient evidence for chiropractic to be an effective treatment for fibromyalgia. Without conclusive evidence, it is impossible to support or dismiss the claims made by practitioners. More research is clearly needed; future studies should be rigorously designed, well executed and adequately funded.
Methods- A systematic review of randomised clinical trials testing the effectiveness of chiropractic care for fibromyalgia
- 6 electronic literature searches were conducted
- No language restrictions were applied
- Data extraction and validation were carried out by 2 independent reviewers
- 3 studies met the inclusion criteria
- Their methodological quality was poor
- They generated no evidence to suggest that chiropractic care is effective for fibromyalgia
