Johnsen K et al. – In the middle-aged Sámi population, there was no evidence for the influence of acetabular dysplasia (AD) on the development of hip OA. Methods
The objective was to investigate the relation between AD of the hip and risk for development of hip osteoarthritis (OA) in a Sámi population
A population-based survey was conducted in a main Sámi area in Norway
315 middle-aged subjects were examined clinically and radiologically and were regarded as a random sample of 836 responders from a general health survey
Results
6.8% of the Sámi population had OA
The logistic regression analyses did not show a significant association between AD and OA
Only age had a statistically significant influence on OA
