allergy and clinical research at The William Storms Allergy Clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He received
his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and his medical degree from the
University of Wisconsin in Madison. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and was a Fellow
in Allergy-Immunology at the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. Storms is involved in many investigational drug trials for new therapies in asthma and allergic rhinitis.
He is a member of the Sports Medicine Committee of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), and also a
member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the USOC. He is past president of the Western Society of
Allergy and Immunology and the Colorado Allergy Society, and a former member of the Board of Regents of the
American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the Board of the Joint Council of Allergy, Asthma and
Immunology. He is the former chairman of the Sports Medicine Committee of the American Academy of Allergy,
Asthma and Immunology and the Public Relations Network of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
Dr. Storms is a member of the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Coordinating Committee
of the NIH/NHLBI, and is Co-Chair of the Subcommittee on Professional and Public/Patient Education.
Dr. Storms is an Associate Editor for
Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise,
is on the editorial board of the
Journal of Asthma
and is a reviewer for the
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology; Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; Chest;
and
ADIS International.
He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has authored book chapters on asthma and allergy.
Stephen Silberstein, MD

Stephen D. Silberstein, MD, is MDLinx's Internal and Family Medicine editorial board member covering the
topic of migraine.
He is Professor of Neurology and Director of the Jefferson Headache Center at Thomas Jefferson University.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Neurology, and the American
Headache Society. He has served the American Headache Society as President, Treasurer, and Board of
Directors member. He has served on the Publications, Scientific, and Education Com.mit.tees of the American
Headache Society and was Co-Chairman of the Annual Scientific Meeting. Dr. Silberstein is an active member
of the American Academy of Neurology and is Co-Director of the national and international Headache
Guideline Project, in cooperation with the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research. He was the chairman
of the International Headache Society meeting in Philadelphia in 2009. He is chairman of the headache
research group of the World Federation of Neurology.
Dr. Silberstein received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He did a medical internship
at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After com.pleting a fellowship in neurology at the
National Hospital for Nervous Diseases in London, Dr. Silberstein completed a medicine/neurology residency
at the Hos.pital of the University of Pennsyl.vania. He served as a pharmacology research associate in the
Toxicology Laboratory of Clinical Science at the National In.stitutes of Mental Health and completed a
neurology residency at the Hos.pital of the University of Pennsyl.vania.
Dr. Silberstein is the senior editor of the 8th edition of
Wolff's Headache and Other Head Pain,
Associate Editor of
Cephalalgia and CNS Drugs,
and a present or prior member of the Editorial Board of
Headache, Cephalalgia, Acta Neurologica Scandanavia, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychology,
and Topics in Pain Management.
He is an ad hoc reviewer for many publications, including
The New England Journal of Medicine, Brain, The Lancet, JAMA, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Annals of Neurology,
and
Neurology.
Dr. Silberstein has more than 300 publications to his credit and lectures extensively on the patho.genesis,
neuro.biology, di.ag.nosis, and treatment of headache.
Vivian A Fonseca, MD

Vivian A. Fonseca, MD, FRCP, is Professor of Medicine, the Tullis-Tulane Alumni Chair in Diabetes, and chief of
the Section of Endocrinology at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is currently
Vice-President of Science and Medicine of the American Diabetes Association.
He is Editor in chief of
Diabetes Care
since 2007, having formerly been associate editor. He was until 2006
Editor in Chief of the
Journal of the Metabolic Syndrome and related disorders.
He served on the editorial
board of the
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism
(2003-2006). He is an ad hoc reviewer for several
other journals, including
The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Diabetes, Diabetic Medicine, Kidney International,
the
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,
the
British Medical Journal,
and
Metabolism.
Dr. Fonseca has served on the clinical practice committee of the American Diabetes Association (chairman 2003-05)
and several other committees for the ADA and AACE; and the joint ADA/ACC "Make the Link" Program.
Dr. Fonseca is a fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the Royal College of
Physicians (London), and the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the Endocrine Society, the
American Diabetes Association, and the International Diabetes Federation. He serves on several national and
international committees, and has published over 250 papers, review articles and book chapters.
Dr. Fonseca's current research interests include the prevention and treatment of diabetic complications and
risk factor reduction in cardiovascular disease. He has a research program evaluating homocysteine and
inflammation as risk factors for heart disease in diabetes. He is also an investigator in the NIH-funded
Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) study and serves on the Glycemia control committee.
He is a co- Investigator on the NIH TINSAL -2D study and serves on the Steering and Ancillary studies committees.
Dr. Fonseca has lectured in the United States and abroad. He is the editor of the text book "Clinical Diabetes:
Translating Research into Practice" (El Sevier 2006) and several monographs and book chapters.
Alexander E. Denes, MD, FACP
Hematology & Oncology
Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology,
Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis
Doctor Denes is MDLinx's Internal and Family Medicine editorial board member covering the topic of cancer.
He is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Washington University
School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri. He is the medical director of the inpatient oncology service
at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Dr. Denes earned his AB cum laude at Washington University and his MD cum laude at the University of Missouri
School of Medicine in Columbia. After graduating, he completed his internship and residency at The Johns Hopkins
School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. His fellowship in hematology and oncology was conducted at Washington
University School of Medicine.
He has authored or coauthored several articles and abstracts concerning a variety of topics in oncology. His
articles are published in prestigious scientific journals such as
American Journal of Hematology, Journal of Clinical Oncology,
and
Cancer.
A fellow of the American College of Physicians and President of the Saint Louis Society of Medical Oncology, he
is a member of the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Society of Hematology, and the Missouri
Society of Medical Oncology.
