Guimaraes EL et al. – Mild mitochondrial uncoupling inhibits culture–induced hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation and their response to pro–fibrogenic cytokines like TGF–beta. These results therefore suggest mitochondrial uncoupling of HSCs as a strategy to reduce progression of liver fibrosis.
