Woolnough K et al. – This case report illustrates that an exudative pleural effusion is a rare complication of polycystic liver disease. It is most likely due to the pressure effects of the polycystic liver and subsequent disruption of sub–diaphragmatic capillaries. This case demonstrates that surgical debulking of the cysts is required to resolve these effusions.
