Multi-modal quantitative MRI investigation of brain tissue neurodegeneration in multiple sclerosis
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 03/15/2012
Hasan KM et al. – Using a standardized multimodal quantitative MRI (qMRI) acquisition and analyses that accounted for lesion distribution the authors demonstrate that cerebral pathology is widespread in relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The analysis of corpus callosum (CC) and neocortex qMRI metrics in relation to disability points to a neurodegenerative injury component that is independent from lesions.
