Pradeepa R et al. – The current article reviews the common antecedents between type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) including non–modifiable and modifiable risk factors and suggests that future research on diabetes and CVD should focus on searching for risk factors for CVD that may be more specific to diabetes, such as hypoglycaemia or medication related comorbidities. Also, the authors recommend research on common genetic variants which might have stronger effects and hence have a potential role in diabetes and CVD risk prediction. [more...]
