Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Assay to Detect Haemophilus influenzae Type b in Cerebrospinal Fluid
Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 08/16/2011
Kim DW et al. – For comparison, cerebrospinal fluid specimens were tested using conventional Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) PCR assay. Hib was detected in 30 samples using loop–mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) and 22 samples using Hib PCR assay. The Hib PCR showed a clinical sensitivity of 73.3% and clinical specificity of 100% relative to Hib LAMP assay. These results suggest that further development and evaluation of the Hib LAMP will enhance the global diagnostic capability for Hib detection.
