Journal of Viral Hepatitis, 09/16/09
Wiegand J et al. – Transfusion institutes managing autologous blood donations should be used as a resource for epidemiological data relating to viral hepatitis and HIV, if such testing is performed routinely. | Information on prevalences on infectious disease can be generated as we did here in simlar seeting where screening is done anyhow. Thus at little cost valuable information on infectious disease prevalences can be generated. Ideal setting are blood bank, autologous blood donors, organ donor and pregnant women, all of which usually get screened anyhow, thereby saving the cost for serologies. |
