Bhat PV et al. – Unrecognized HSV infection can cause longstanding scleritis. Histopathologic features of HSV scleritis are varied and nonspecific; immunofluorescent demonstration of HSV protein can make a definitive diagnosis. Prolonged administration of acyclovir is required for effective therapy.
