McPhee L et al. - A deceased-donor kidney transplant recipient developed purulent pericarditis caused by Nocardia despite trimethoprim–sulfamethoxazole (TMP–SMX) prophylaxis for Pneumocystis jirovecii. She was treated empirically with ceftriaxone and amikacin and subsequently underwent sternotomy with drainage of an intrapericardial abscess.
