Cationic compounds with activity against multidrug-resistant bacteria: interest of a new compound compared with two older antiseptics, hexamidine and chlorhexidine
Clinical Microbiology and Infection, 06/02/09
Grare M et al. - The results raise the possibility that Cx1 may be a potent new antibacterial agent of somewhat lower activity but significantly lower toxicity than CHX.
R. E. Duval, 06/23/09
| At the moment, there are two major antiseptocs used in hospital: hexamidine and chlorhexidine, but very few data on their real efficiency on the multidrug resistant bacteria are available. One purpose of this work was to test these compounds against these bacteria and also to compare these two molecules with our leading compound, Cx1, which seems to be very interesting as well in term of antibacterial spectre as cytotoxic response. That is why Cx1 seems to us very promising. |
