Gunes Y et al. - Due to the fulminant course of the disease, treatment should be initiated when there is a clinical suspicion, even if the culture results are unknown or negative. Agglutination titres aid in the diagnosis. A combination of antibiotherapy and surgery seems to be preferable treatment modality.
