Madeo M et al. - The rates of CAUTI were 41% lower in the intervention group. The data in this sample group suggests the use of the preconnected catheter offers some protection against infection. The use of the preconnected system is a new concept in the UK and further studies are required to evaluate its effectiveness. The results from this study suggest their use may help to reduce the risk of CAUTI in certain clinical areas.
