Medsphere Gets New Investments
HealthDataManagement, 09/02/09
Hospital electronic health records vendor Medsphere Systems Corp. has raised $12 million in new financing. The Carlsbad, Calif.–based company will use the funds to support ongoing development and market expansion. Medsphere's OpenVista software is a commercialized version of the VistA electronic health records system of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Medsphere changed its business model in May 2008 by releasing the source code on the open source market. The company now generates revenue through support and expertise rather than software license fees.
