AMA Updates Payer Report Card

Anderson H – In its second National Health Insurer Report Card, the American Medical Association says health plans are earning better grades for administrative simplification but still have a long way to go. The AMA has recommended that the federal government adopt standard payment rules and common claims processing requirements for insurers. It claims that inefficient and inconsistent claims processing adds as much as $200 billion annually to health care costs.
