Brocato C – The graying of the American population is not only creating a greater demand for hospital care, it is also presenting healthcare organizations with an additional challenge: how to retain a workforce of veteran nurses. According to a new study supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and coordinated by The Lewin Group, healthcare institutions can prevent experienced nurses from quitting – and taking their wealth of knowledge and expertise with them – with the help of specific strategies and programs.
