Hospital Efficiency Efforts Reap Rewards
AMN Healthcare, 08/13/09
Krischke MM – In the time of limited financial resources and clinician shortages, hospitals are striving to improve efficiency while continuing to provide the best possible patient care. Examples include the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) in Denver which set a goal to increase early discharges in its Acute Care for Elders (ACE) unit and the Good Shepherd Medical Center (GSMC) in Longview, Texas, which worked to decrease throughput times in the ED. Both hospitals met their goals, using very different approaches.
