Larson J - Research shows that the country's ongoing recession seems to have eased the nursing shortage in the short-term, the long-term problem has not gone away, according to workforce experts Peter Buerhaus, Ph.D., RN, David Auerbach, Ph.D., and Douglas Staiger, Ph.D. The co-authors urge caution and encourage health care leaders to take this time to address the underlying issues that led to the nursing shortage and will continue to impact supply and demand in the months and years ahead.
