Store Clinics Use Card Scanners

Some 21 retail clinics in Texas grocery stores are using technology from Innovative Card Scanning, Plano, Texas, to scan patient’s insurance cards and drivers’ licenses. The RediClinics, located in H-E-B grocery stores in Austin and Houston, use the technology to scan cards and store an image for use as billing references. The clinics also use electronic health records software from athenahealth Inc., Watertown, Mass. The chain of clinics plans to use the scanning technology as it opens new locations.
