Umbdenstock urges Congress to take bipartisan approach to health reform
American Hospital Association News, 04/30/09
AHA President and CEO Rich Umbdenstock last week told the Senate Finance Committee that America’s hospitals are "committed to change that is thoughtful and achieved in a bipartisan manner." Extending health coverage to all Americans is key to controlling health care costs, Umbdenstock said. "Health care costs are higher when patients don’t receive care at the right time or in the right setting," he told the committee. "Many uninsured people delay needed care until it is an emergency. And the costs of the uninsured are reflected in higher insurance premiums for those purchasing insurance."
