Sixty percent of hospitals are seeing a higher proportion of uninsured patients come through their emergency department doors, says an AHA survey that was released and is based on information collected last month from 1,078 hospitals across the country. At the same time, nearly half of hospitals report that the recession has forced them to cut staff.
