Leapfrog: CPOE Still Rare at Hospitals
HealthDataManagement, 04/16/09
Only 7% of U.S. hospitals meet The Leapfrog Group’s standard for fully implementing computerized physician order entry, according to the group’s latest annual survey. The Washington-based employer consortium’s 2008 voluntary hospital survey includes 1,276 hospitals. Based on preliminary survey data, Leapfrog had estimated late last year that CPOE use stood at 8%. Leapfrog also announced last year that a study of 100 hospitals with CPOE found that many faced serious challenges when implementing the systems.
