Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has built a Web-based e-prescribing and patient summary application for physicians treating patients covered under Alabama's Medicaid program. The Dallas-based vendor is testing the application, called QTool, with about 150 physicians in nine counties. In addition to being able to electronically prescribe, physicians can use QTool to access a summary of patients' emergency room, hospital and physician visits, as well as lab results and medication histories, interaction alerts and formularies.
