Yurut–Caloglu V et al. – The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the prognostic factors of patients with renal cell carcinoma. The authors concluded that the most important prognostic factors for patients with renal cell carcinomas are ECOG performance status, tumour size and lymphatic invasion.

It is clear that patients with good performance status and lower tumor size would get better results from treatment. In addition lymphatic invasion inside the tumor is one of the most important prognostic variables for DMFS as well as OS. Therefore, the consideration of lymphatic invasion in pathological material may help to select adequate treatment strategies.
