Myelodysplastic syndromes: the role of flow cytometry in diagnosis and prognosis

Stetler–Stevenson M et al. – Flow cytometric immunophenotypic analysis is a well–recognized and widely accepted adjuvant test to increase the sensitivity and specificity of diagnosis in potential myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) cases. In addition, flow cytometric analysis provides prognostic information in MDS that is not available from other sources. The flow cytometric findings indicative of MDS and its value is a diagnostic adjunct are discussed.
