Mandala M et al. – Thrombocytosis and a hx of thrombosis are risk factors for development of a thrombotic event during adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with malignant diseases.
Methods- Prospective, observational study
- 199 patients with GI cancer
- 182 patients with breast cancer
- 30 (7.87%) VTEs were recorded; 28 VTEs during tx and 2 VTEs during f/u
- 14 (3.67%) patients had factor V Leiden and 10 (2.62%) patients had prothrombin mutations
- Thrombocytosis and a hx of thrombosis, but not factor V Leiden and prothrombin mutations, were risk factors for VTE
