Sasaki T et al. – Gemcitabine and S-1 combination chemotherapy has promising efficacy and tolerability in patients with advance biliary tract cancer.
Methods- 35 patients with measureable lesions and no hx of chemotherapy or RT
- Gemciatbine was administered at 1000 mg/m2 iv on d 1 & 15 q4w
- S-1 was administered po at 40 mg/m2 bid on d1-14
- 14 patients had gallbladder cancer, 14 patients had intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, and 7 patients had prior surgical resections
- ORR was 34.3%
- Overall disease control rate 82.9%
- Median OS 11.6 mos
- Median TTP 5.9 mos
- Grade 3/4 leukopenia (23%), neutropenia (34%), anemia (20%), thrombocytopenia (6%), and anorexia (3%)
