Isa S-L et al. – Low OPN serum levels are significantly associated with a favorable prognosis for NSCLC.
Methods- Prospective, randomized phase III trial comparing tx of advanced NSCLC with paclitaxel + carboplatin vs. vinorelbine and gemcitabine followed by docetaxel
- 20 ml of blood was collected from 71 patients (PC arm, n=32; VGD arm, n=39) before tx and tested for OPN and bFGF
- Low OPN levels correlated with better OS and PFS
- High bFGF levels correlated with better OS
