Bouvier AM et al. - The annual probability of death in patients with lung cancer decreased for both sexes but remained substantially higher for men than for women, reaching approximately 8% and 5%, respectively, at 10 years.

Exclusive Author Commentary
Anne-Marie Bouvier, 07/08/09

The French network FRANCIM dataset has the advantage of including large-scale, population-based data with standardized registration procedures and a high level of completeness. One of the main interests of this study was to underline the finding that age at diagnosis did not influence the long-term annual conditional probability of death in the same way for all cancer sites. After the fifth year and until the 10th year, the annual probability of death was higher in younger age groups for prostate and breast cancers, whereas it did not vary according to age groups for colorectal or lung cancers.
