Episodic Src activation in uveal melanoma revealed by kinase activity profiling
British Journal of Cancer, 07/02/09
Maat W et al. - The authors identified Src as an important kinase and a potential target for treatment in primary UM. Metastasis cell lines seemed largely resistant to Src inhibition and indicate that in metastases treatment, a different approach may be required.
P A van der Velden, 07/02/09
| Tumor development is often driven by overactive kinases and these tumor promoters turn out to be good targets for treatment. Using kinase assays we could distinguish cell lines based on Src kinase activity and this correlated with efficacy of Src kinase inhibitor treatment. Measuring kinase activity in tumor specimen will assist to select the optimal therapy from a whole range of kinase inhibitors that are currently on the market. |
