Height and risk of prostate cancer in the prostate, lung, colorectal, and ovarian cancer screening trial
British Journal of Cancer, 07/02/09
Ahn J et al. - In a study to determine the association between height and risk of prostate cancer (PCa), results suggest that tallness is associated with increased risk for younger onset, aggressive PCa.
Methods- The association of height with PCa was prospectively examined among 34,268 men.
- Anthropometry was assessed at baseline and 2144 incident PCa cases were identified up to 8.9 yrs of follow-up.
- Tallness was not associated with risk of PCa or with risk of non-aggressive disease, but risk for aggressive PCa tended to be greater in taller men.
- This association was largely limited to men below the age of 65 yrs, although the number of cases was small and risk estimates were somewhat unstable.
