Chi AS et al. - A review of antiangiogenic strategies for treatment of malignant gliomas (MG) summarizes clinical experience with antiangiogenic therapy in MG pts, major issues for use and development of these agents, and strategies based on initial gains seen with antiangiogenic agents.

Studies are ongoing for numerous antiangiogenic agents with diverse mechanisms of action in treatment of GBM pts
Early clinical trials suggest that antiangiogenic drugs, which target blood vessels of these highly angiogenic tumors, may have clinical benefit in GBM pts
Antiangiogenic agents have potent antiedema and steroid-sparing effects; emerging data suggest modest improvement in progression-free survival
Post-treatment with antiangiogenic agents, a major challenge is interpretation of radiographic changes
