Exclusive Author Commentary
Gary A. Piazza, 06/12/09

The results described in this manuscript provide strong evidence that the antineoplastic properties of NSAIDs involve a cyclooxygenase-independent mechanism. The challenge for future research will be to define this mechanism, which appears to be highly selective for tumor cells. Additionally, the studies suggest that it is possible to develop highly efficiacious and selective new drugs for cancer chemoprevention.
